Tobacco Cessation
Quit Tobacco, for Good.
Studies conducted by the American Cancer Society show that people who quit tobacco with a support team are more likely to succeed. Quitting tobacco can be rough and many people try and fail several times. A trained professional coach can help you to identify your triggers, create methods of dealing with the cravings, and help keep you on track, motivated and informed.
Quitting tobacco is about more than just not smoking. As a Trust Medical Plan participant you have access to the Quit For Life® Program, which gives you personalized support and a variety of tools to help you get ready, take action, and live a tobacco free life.
The program is fully paid for by the Trust and offered to all participants and covered dependents 18 years of age and older.
Quit For Life® includes:
- Quitting Aids: nicotine substitutes or medications
that are right for you - Quit Guide: an easy-to-use workbook to help you
stick with your plan - Quit Coach®: expert support and assistance whenever
you need it

Quit For Life® is a nationally recognized, telephone‑based tobacco cessation program brought to you by the American Cancer Society® and Alere Wellbeing. The two organizations have decades of combined experience in tobacco cessation coaching and have helped more than a million tobacco users.
Through Quit For Life® you and your eligible spouse could be eligible for nicotine replacement therapy, which is covered in full and combines nicotine replacement products (nicotine gum and patches, if eligible) with the support of a personal coach.
In addition, if you complete three calls with your Coach, you could also receive a $50 check just for participating.
The $50 check is a taxable incentive of around $75 depending on the state in which you reside. Estimated state (if any) and federal taxes of around $25 have been withheld and paid by the Trust, resulting in your net check of $50. You will receive a W2 from the Trust after year-end. You may participate in as many wellness programs as you like, but are eligible to earn only one $50 check per employee and one per covered spouse or domestic partner, each year.
The Quit For Life® program is offered to you and paid in full by the Washington Teamsters Welfare Trust. Provided by an independent health management service provider, the program is voluntary and at no cost. Any information you share is completely confidential, protected by federal law, and cannot be shared with your union or your employer without your permission.
